Dirty (or Filthy) Martini (enfuso Martini Mix and Stuffed Olives)

A "Dirty Martini" is a vodka or gin martini that is made with a splash of olive juice. “Filthy” just means extra dirty implying lots of olive juice or extra strong juice.

Most of the time the “olive juice” that is used is whatever brine is in the jar when you purchase martini olives which are typically green olives, sometimes stuffed with pimento. However, there is a dirtier olive-ier (aka filthier) option that enfuso uses for its unique product offering based on using real curing brine.

Our olives are slow cured for up to 10 months using salt which slowly pulls moisture from the olive and creates a liquid that is fundamentally made from the leached juice of the olive and salt. Our hand stuffed olives are rinsed of the salt and our bottling brine is made from our champagne vinegar; but this curing brine is so amazingly intense, we have saved it to make what I think are the best dirty martinis I have ever experienced.

Keep your dirty martini mix in the refrigerator so it stays extra cold, it’s best to use cold products when mixing your martini to limit ice melt and thus a watered down result.

Dirty Martini

The steps for making this classic cocktail:

  1. Add ice to a cocktail shaker so it starts to chill

  2. Freeze a martini glass to keep the drink chilled.

  3. Add the 2.5 ounces of vodka or gin, splash (or 1/2 ounce) of vermouth, and splash (or 1/2 ounce) of enfuso dirty martini mix to a cocktail shaker.

  4. Close the shaker and vigorously shake the cocktail for 5-10 seconds.

  5. Strain into the martini glass.

  6. Optionally garnish with a green olive, we love using enfuso lemon stuffed olives for a fresh bit of citrus surprise .
